Hot stone therapy, cupping, and others often get filed under "extras," treatments you tack onto a session if you want something extra special. In my practice they're not add-ons, they're tools I reach for mid-session because they solve a specific problem in your muscle or fascia that standard strokes alone don't. Here's what each one actually does, so you know what you're asking for the next time you book a massage in Lymington.
Hot Stones
Heated basalt stones warm and soften tight tissue before I work deeper, which lets me reach chronic tension in the neck, shoulders, and lower back with less discomfort than starting cold. The heat also helps muscle release faster, so more ground gets covered in the same session time, useful if you're short on time but carrying a lot of tension. Hot stone massage isn't right for everyone, I check for certain skin conditions, circulatory issues, and diabetes with nerve involvement before using them, so let me know at booking if any of these apply to you.
Dynamic Cupping
Silicone cups create gentle suction across the skin and the fascia underneath it, the opposite of the compression used in standard massage strokes. That makes cupping useful on fibrous, stubborn tissue that doesn't respond well to kneading alone, the kind of tension that sits deep and doesn't move with pressure. It's common to see round, temporary marks where the cups sat, similar to a bruise, and these usually fade within a few days. If you're considering a cupping massage in the New Forest area for the first time, I'll talk you through what to expect before we start.
Hot Stones and Cupping are included in the techniques I draw on during any session, at no extra charge and no need to choose in advance unless you want to. If you know you'd like one worked into your treatment, mention it when you book, otherwise I'll bring in whatever combination will serve you best on the day.
Reiki Flow - £50
A gentle, hands-off energy therapy designed to help you unwind and reconnect. During this session, gentle energy work is channelled to support balance and calm. Many clients use Reiki as a way to pause, breathe, and reset amidst a busy schedule. Reiki Flow offers a quiet, restorative pause in your day.
Reiki Flow works differently to the other two. Hot Stones and Cupping are massage techniques, so they slot into any session as another tool I'm already using on the table. Reiki is a separate practice altogether, hands-off energy work rather than massage, and it's something I offer as its own dedicated add-on time rather than folding it into a massage session. That's why it carries its own cost of £50, on top of your treatment, rather than being included the way Hot Stones and Cupping are.
